I first got started making fleece blankets and tug toys when my grandparents gave me a bunch of fleece "scraps." They make dozens of child-sized fleece tie blankets each year to take to the hospital for sick children. When each blanket is cut for the tying, the corner pieces, as well as the rough edges, are discarded. At least they were until I got ahold of them! I started out by using the corner squares to make blankets for our own dogs, and I made dog tug toys out of the rough edge scraps that they brought me. The blankets were so useful and comfortable for our dogs, and the toys were a big hit as well - not only in our own family, but with my dog class students as well.

My grandparents keep making hospital blankets, and they continue to give me scraps! Up until now, I have been turning these scraps into blankets and tug toys, but just storing the finished products. I'm excited to stop just storing them, and start sharing them with you!
